New Recipe! Come Check Out Tuesday’s Tasty Tidbits! Homemade Salsa!

by Dian on March 1, 2011

Welcome to Tuesday’s Tasty Tidbits and guest blogging with Grocery Shop For Free.  Thanks, Dian, for doing this each week.  Please check out her blog for great ideas, coupons and info on getting free stuff.  I hope you will join in by submitting a recipe at the bottom of the post and make sure you link back somewhere on yours.

Last Monday, I spent the day in the hospital awaiting the arrival of the Little Peanut.  She is my newest pride and joy and I can’t believe she is a week old.

I stayed at their house for a few days, and did some cooking but didn’t take many photos of the food.  Wonder why?  I did make a batch of my daughter’s fabulous salsa and thought I would share her easy recipe.  I eat it on everything….like a good little Texan.

HOMEMADE SALSA

6 slices of jalepenos, pickled from a jar (or more, if you like it hotter)
A splash of the jalepeno juice (just a little pour….probably a couple of tbsp.)
1/4 chopped onion
1/3 bunch of cilantro
Juice of a lime (which I didn’t have so….I used the equivalent from a bottle)
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 can of Rotel tomatoes
Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper to taste

In a blender, put the onions, jalepenos, jalepeno juice, cilantro, lime juice and part of the diced tomatoes (for a little liquid) and give it a few pulses to blend….,keeping it a little chunky.  Add the rest of the tomatoes and Rotel and finish blending….again….keeping it a little chunky.  Pour into a quart jar and eat it on everything!  Easy!

If you want this to have a chipotle flavor, add a pepper out of a can of chipotle peppers.  If you want to make a peach salsa, just chop up a peach and blend it into the beginning of the process.

Hope you have a great week!

Hope you will share you recipes and check out other posts at Tuesday’s Tasty Tidbits and Grocery Shop for Free

Hi, my name is Susan and I have only been blogging for a few months but I love it. Permanent Posies (Creative Chaos) is my blog and my subject matter is…well, that depends on the day and the mood. But, for the most part, I love cooking, watching the Food Network, reading cookbooks and, of course, eating. I am also an artist and spend time each week in my studio (bedroom) oil painting. I am a mother of four and a grandmother to 5 and that, along with my husband and 2 dogs, take up my most of my time. I am a side-tracked Home Executive and I had the privilege of being a stay –at-home mom so, you might say that my passion is the home and making a haven for those I love. I am quite skilled at shopping

and finding a bargain just makes my day.

Make sure to link up here and at Permanent Posies!
