TweetHubby made a quick run to Walmart this afternoon and boy, did he do good!
I told him the other day – I pulled one of the last tubs of butter out of the freezer, so we needed to be looking for a good deal! I hadn’t gotten any in many months.
Here’s what he did:
10 I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter – $2.68
price matched Kroger to $1.48
used $.60/1 1/29 RP
Final: $.88 each
3 Ken’s Dressing – $2.38
price matched Tom Thumb/Safeway to $1.50 a a bottle (Fri-Sun Only)
used $1/1 SS 1/8
Final: $.50 each
10 Breathe Right Strips – $.97
used $1.50/1Â RP 1/29
Final: $.53 overage on each
10 Vaseline Total Moisture Lotion 3oz – $.97
$1/1 RP 1/29
Final: $.03 overage on each
Total:Â $53.34
Paid:Â $4.70
Saved:Â $48.64 or 92%!!
Great job!

When you do price match, how local does the competitors need to be?
Gini Huttenga » Probably in the same town. They really haven’t defined that that i have seen.
Dian
Really wish we had a Kroger near by….our Walmart doesn’t price match stores not in our town……
They should still price match the stores that are in the same town as the Walmart is Amy. Walmart has to price match- it is definitely national.
Wow great job. Now if I go to walmart can I do the price math for kroger for example when we do not have one in our eara? I dont even think there is one in the state I live in.
Lisa » No, you’d have to have one in your area – but they have MANY affiliate stores all over the country. Do you have a store that has what they call Mega Sales, from time to time? Where if you buy 10 participating products you get $5 off? If so, they may be a Kroger affiliate and they may have the same sale going on this week. What state do you live in?
Dian
I live in Vermont I dont know if there is any store that does that around me.
my thoughts
no Kroger
I didn’t get the Breathe rights
was it a regional thing?
Probably…
Mandy: Thanks!
Amy: It is a company-wide policy – they HAVE to price match – take the Price Match Guarantee in with you when you go.
Clemson:
the Breathe right coupon in the 1/29/12 RP very clearly reads 12 ct or higher.
There was a printable breath right coupon yesterday that did not specify a size
how do you do that with walmart. i cant–wish i could.
Melinda Baker: The coupon for Breathe right in the 1/29/12 RP clearly reads 12 ct or SMALLER – I read it 4 times! LOL I thought the same thing! I added a picture of the coupon to the bottom of the post linked above so you can see what it says. Thanks!
Hannah Meislik Holmes: You can do it, too! They all have the same rules! Ask me anything you need to help!
lets say my order comes to 32.15 dollars. but after pricing macthing and coupons i can only get it to about 20 dollars. i just cant get it to almost zero like you. what am i doing wrong at walmart
Nothing! You just have to plan your trips around what’s available. Out of the only 4 things we picked up today – 2 had overage and 1 was substantial and we used coupons on everything! Sometimes my savings are around 48 – 55% and sometimes they are closer to 100% – it depends on what’s on sale, what coupons are available, what I need and how I put all that info together. Another thing you need to remember is to stockpile. Buy enough of what’s FREE, Cheap, A good deal – to last you until it’s FREE, Cheap, or a Good deal again! The object is to not shop out of need and have to pay higher prices when you NEED it, but to shop to fill your stockpile when it’s on SALE and you have a COUPON. I hope that helps. You can read my eBook and watch my videos and ask me anything anytime!
As far as the Price Matching at Walmart- it is a national thing you are correct. I do however know of one in particular that price matches within a 100 mile radius. Mine however has to be in the same city. Best bet is to call your local Walmart and ask them their radius for price matching. (It also wouldn’t hurt to talk to a manager and get their name…just in case)
Angie E. » Thanks!
Dian
