I am trying to understand this new way for me to save by using your method. I have watched a couple of your videos posted on your site and I can not seem to figure out the mathematic side of items being free. For example the gillette body wash. 2 for $4. You bought 6 of them at $2 each, that calculates to $12. The rice example is confused me also, please can you explain how it works out to be free. Thank you so much for your time.

@Marie Evans: On the rice they are 10 bags of rice for $10 (stores price thinsgs this way but you aren’t required to buy 10) so that means they are $1 each and the coupon you use with it is for $.50 off – at my store they double $.50 so that would make that coupon worth $1 – so, if the rice is $1 qnd the coupon is $1 that means the rice is FREE!
On the Gillette Body Wash – it is on sale for $2 each the coupon is $4 off of 2 which means $2 off of one, so I will buy 2 and that will cost $4 and then the coupon is $4 off of 2 so, that will make those FREE!
Does that make sense? If not, please let me know and I will answer anything you don’t understand!

Also, to help you need to start out with the videos that explain this more thoroughly – the one you left the comment on was how to use the printable grocery list page.

DIAN I HAVE A COUPON FOR BUY THREE BOXES OF CEREAL $1 OFF. THE STORE ADVERTISE IS BUY ONE GET ONE FREE, ALSO THE STORE DOUBLE COUPON UP TO .99CENTS. HELP ME CALCULATE WHAT IM GETTING WITH COUPON PLEASE. IM TRY TO UNDERSTAND AND MY FIRST TIME COUPON SHOPPING. THANKS

7 Dian June 18, 2011 at 9:40 am: MILDRED » I don’t know the price of the cereal, but since your coupon is a dollar and your store doubles to $.99 – that coupon will not doubles because it’s over $.99. So, then you will get 3 boxes of cereal because the coupon says $1 off 3 – so you have to buy 3, then the store sale is Buy 1 Get 1 FREE – 1 of the 3 boxes you buy will be FREE, so then you will pay for 2 boxes and get $1 total off of the price of 2 and you will also get one FREE.
Does that make sense?

So if I buy 3 boxes $2.50ea., store give me 3 free since it buy one get one free. I will get $1 off $7.50 making it $6.50. total cereals will be six boxes is this correct? 6 boxes for $6.50

Mildred » If they are $2.50 per box
and the sale is B1G1 FREE
and you have a $1/3
You will pay: $4 for 4 boxes – making them $1 each

Or if you purchase 6 for $2.50 each
You get 3 FREE
and use $1/3
You will pay $6.50 for 6 boxes – making them $1.08 each

hi on this when you are getting the 3 for free… depending on the store.. you can use an additional $1/3 coupon on the ones your getting for free.. so you would save an additional 1.00 off… ive done this with the bogo sales and i have gotten items for free by doing this… you use a coupon for your item your purchasing and use another coupon on the free item… which makes the price of the 1st item.. – the coupon value… hope this makes sense… thanks for all your doing… ps ive got tons of unused out of date coupons.. do you know where i can send them..for the military?? heard they can use them..up to 6 months… ??? please let me know.. thanks bunches kassi

im very new to coupons and have a couple questions before im ready for my first shopping list. i understand that using coupons to get free products are possible, but i dont get how an extreme couponer makes it to getting around 50 or more of the same product. secondly, what does ‘doubling’ mean? i think that means you need to have a manufacturers coupons AND a store coupon for the same product, but im not sure. for example, i have two of the same coupons that are 50 cents off a cereal thats 1 dollar right now. but on those coupons, it states “no other coupon may be used with this coupon. does that mean i cant use any other coupons in the same transaction?? thirdly, is there any example of a planned shopping list? because im going crazy trying to figure out an efficient and easy way to plan. thanks so much!

Doubling means you have a coupon and the store says they will give you DOUBLE what is printed on it. For example my store will double coupons up to $.50 so my $.50 coupons are worth $1 at my store. You cannot use 2 Manufacturer coupons on one product, you can use a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon on one product and that is called “Stacking”.
