11 Homemade Cleaning Recipes!  Includes Homemade Dishwasher Detergent!
Making our own Homemade Cleaning Recipes is better because we know what's in them. These 11 Homemade Cleaning Recipes Include Homemade Dishwasher Detergent.

T is back today with some more great recipes – today instead of cooking, she’s cleaning!  Check out these great Homemade Cleaning Recipes, she’s sharing with us!

I had a totally different tip planned for today but the best made plans are typically ruined. My plan was ruined by a teen throwing my car keys into a pool that resembles Shrek’s swamp.

I guess I will have to adjust my day and just give you some crazy DIY Homemade Cleaning Recipes for useful household cleaning.

These Cleaning Recipes can be completed using things you have in your house, including Homemade Dishwasher Detergent!

Homemade Febreeze

  • 3 tablespoons of fabric softener (Downy, Suavitel, Purex etc.)
  • 3 cups of water
  • 3 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol

**You can alter this recipe and exclude rubbing alcohol. **

Homemade Detergent

Basic (small scale 5 gallon bucket) Recipe:

  • 2 cups of Borax
  • 2 cups of Washing Soda
  • 1 cup Vinegar or Water (optional and can be replaced with water)
  • 2 bars of soap
  • *Fill 5 gallon bucket with water*
Basically, you use equal parts Borax and Washing Soda. If you are making a smaller container of detergent, then just fill whatever container you use with hot boiling water.
The amount of Borax and Washing Soda can be tweaked as long as you keep them equal.
In this video I used twice the amount of ingredients because I made a 10 gallon bucket.

Homemade Drain Cleaner

Drain Cleaner

To keep drains clean and clear, prevention is the best solution.
Once a month:

Pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the drain followed by 1/2 cup of vinegar and cover the drain.

This solution will foam and fizzle so don’t worry about that. Let it sit for 30 minutes and then run cool water down the drain.

Clear a CLOGGED drain:

  • 2 cups of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup salt

Let this mixture sit and then pour 2 cups of boiling hot water. *Best if you let the mixture sit overnight before adding the water*

Homemade Fabric Softener

  • 8 cups of water
  • 3 cups of distilled vinegar
  • 2 cups of conditioner or essential oils for fragrance

Use 1/4 cup when washing clothing. Soak a towel or piece of fabric in the fabric softener and toss it in the dryer for homemade dryer sheets.

Oven Glass Cleaner

  • 1/4 cup of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of water

*Rub this mixture over the inner glass of the oven door. Let it sit for 30 minutes and voila!

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

  • 2 cups of Washing Soda
  • 2 cups of Borax

Use 1/4 tablespoon in dishwasher. Vinegar should be used as a rinse aide.

All Purpose Floor Cleaner

  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup of rubbing alcohol
  • 1 tsp of dish detergent

Toilet Cleaner

  • Coca Cola

Microwave Cleaner

  • 2 tsp of lemon juice
  • 1 cup of water

*Heat in microwave for 3 minutes and then use the solution to clean the microwave.

Baking Pan Cleaner

  • 1/4 c of baking soda
  • 2 tsp of peroxide

*Rub on the pan and let it sit 15 minutes

Porcelain Cleaner

  • Cream of Tartar

Rub it on and wipe it away!

These are few great Homemade Cleaning Recipes you make yourself using things that might be in your house already! Please feel free to share more cleaning tips and tricks!
