Home improvement projects aren’t always easy or cheap. There’s always something that needs to be fixed at home like a broken light bulb or a leaky faucet. Every time you run into a problem at home, you need to purchase new supplies and the receipts can just start piling up!

The good news is transforming your house into your dream home doesn’t always have to cost an arm and a leg especially when you know where to shop.

One of the best places to get home improvement supplies is Lowe’s. They offer plenty of ways for you to save money on your home improvement and remodeling projects. Today we’re talking about 9 easy ways to save money when shopping at Lowe’s Home Improvement Store. Let’s get to it!

Know the Right Time to Shop

Lowe’s offers store discounts on all kinds of home improvement supplies throughout the year. For example, you can get discounts in garden supplies, grills, patio furniture, and outdoor décor from March through September.

If you’re looking to save on flooring, paint, lighting, sinks, faucets, cabinets, and windows, then you should shop between May and August.

Meanwhile, from November to December, you can get great discounts on tools, storage, decorations, and cleaning products.

Lowe’s also offers up to 90 percent discount on decorative accents and major appliances that are up for clearance during their Sidewalk Sales. These happen a few times a year on the first or last Saturday of the month.

Buy in Bulk

The great thing about shopping for home remodeling supplies at Lowe’s is the more you buy, the more you can save. This is especially helpful if you’re working on an extensive project at home.

Simply look for products with the yellow “Contractor Pack” labels since these tend to be priced lower when purchased in higher quantities.

You can also visit the ProServices desk to let a store employee know that you plan to buy in bulk. You can save anywhere between 5 percent and 50 percent with Lowe’s volume discount pricing.

Price Match

One of the easiest ways to save money at Lowe’s is by asking for a price match. Before heading to the store, check out how much other stores are selling the items you want for. They’ll match their competitor’s prices and you’ll save money also by not having to drive to different stores to get the best pricing.

Negotiate Your Own Discount

You can negotiate on price with an employees at Lowe’s! Lowe’s employees can lowed the price of certain items if a customer requests it. This works well for items with damaged packaging. Some stores even have a specific section for damaged goods like scratched appliances, bent packaging, or unwanted gallons of paint.

Use Lowe’s Credit Card

Lowe’s offers financing options both for personal and business purchases. For typical home improvement projects, you can apply for a Lowe’s Advantage Credit Card.

Applying for Lowe’s Advantage Credit Card is quick and easy. You can choose 5% off eligible purchases or orders when you charge to your Lowe’s account using your Advantage Card or take advantage of six months special financing on qualifying purchases of $299 or more. And when you use your Advantage Card for purchases of $2,000 or more, you can choose 84 fixed monthly payments at reduced APR financing.

Veterans and Current Service Members Get Special Discounts

If you or an immediate family member is a veteran, you can qualify for 10 percent off your entire purchase if you show a valid military ID. It is also available to current service members, VA recipients, and retired veterans with at least 20 years of service. You can also enjoy these savings on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Veterans Day.

Visit Your Local Post Office

Your local Post Office has what they call “mover savings” kits that are available to anyone who fills out a change of address form at their website. However, you can get one at the Post Office when you ask for one, even if you aren’t changing your address.

The cool thing about these kits are that they come with a 10% off coupon for Lowe’s. That means you can use the one time use coupon in-store or online to save money on your Lowe’s purchases.

Shop In Your Jammies

Stay home and avoid the crowd (and heavy lifting if it’s a large purchase) by shopping at home on their website. On the Lowe’s site you’ll find their Savings Center where you can regularly find deals for as much as 30% – 50% off in many sections of the store.

Also each day they offer special discounts on one particular item that can make for a great deal. Plus you can pick up your purchases in store all pulled and ready for you to just grab them and head out.

If you choose to pick up in store, be sure to check the in store price against what you paid online for the same item. Sometimes you may find that the in store price is less. In that case you can use their Price Protection policy and request they honor the in store price.

This works both ways, so if you’re shopping in store and find an item, take a minute before you head to check out and look up the price on your mobile device. If it’s lower online then just let the cashier know and they will honor that price.

Don’t Forget The Rebate

Lowe’s has a Rebate Center online that you can search for current rebates, refunds, and credits from manufacturer’s for the items you’re purchasing. You can make a better choice when comparing different brands by what they are offering in the rebate center.

It’s super simple to search through and find a rebate you’re looking for, check the status on a rebate you took advantage of, or even to fill out and submit your chosen rebate, all right on the Lowe’s website.

Next time you’re looking to save money on home remodeling, repair, or improvement be sure to head to Lowe’s. There are so many ways to save and they make it so easy.

There are so many ways to save at Lowe’s, I decided to add a quick reference for the ones I didn’t include above:

Return dead or dying plants for up to one year to receive store credit with receipt.

Use manufacturer coupons.

Looking for paint and not picky about the color? Check out the “mistint” section and save up to 80%.

Wait for Black Friday to make your large appliance purchases when you can see discounts as deep as 40%.

Check out returned or “dinged” products for discounts as much as 55%.

Get free local delivery on large appliance purchases.

Looking for discounts on your lawn and garden? Look for a Gardening Black Friday sale in April.

Shop for patio furniture in September when you could see discounts as much as 75%.

Don’t

Try to use a competitor coupon, however price matching is ok.

Stack offers. You cannot combine a coupon, price match, or Veteran discount.
