DIY Baby Sling In 5 Minutes!
Are you in need of a Baby Sling? Well, here’s a DIY Baby Sling that will take 5 minutes and cost you nothing! You probably have all of the supplies you need on hand right now!
This weekend our last child left the nest. I am not sure, yet, how I feel about that. A lot of stuff has certainly changed since I had my first child so many years ago. The baby swings we had back then had to be hand wound with a little crank that made a terrible noise that woke the baby every time you had to rewind it! Car seats were nice to have, but not required, the Diaper Genie was not around, no one had a “Gender Reveal” party because no one was completely sure about the sex of the unborn baby.
By the time I had my last child baby slings were all the rage – and I wanted one so badly, but with 4 kids, that was a luxury we couldn’t afford. They were expensive and that money was better spent somewhere else. But, someone gave me one as a gift and I was so thankful and used it for a long time and loved it! It made life so much easier. So, when my daughter-in-law had our newest granddaughter 3 months ago, and I knew I was going to be babysitting once she returned to work, I went in search of a new baby sling to help me.
My daughter mentioned that I could make one… which was funny to me as I can’t sew and I am not crafty… but, I knew if she suggested it that it must be easy because she knew that, too! She found a video on YouTube explaining how easy and how VERY cheap it was to make one. I was able to make one in 5 minutes and I use it everyday – she LOVES it. She will be in it all day – sometimes I am at my desk working and I look down and her eyes are wide open looking up at me and then I look again and she’s asleep. She is very content in it!
You can make this, RIGHT NOW, in 5 minutes with what you already have in your home!
I made a video to show you how:
It’s that easy I can’t tell you how handy this is! Let me know what you think in the comments below.

What material is the shirt made out of? Watching you put it on , it looks stretchy. I also wanted to put a tip in for the video.when you have a black shirt on and making a black sling it makes it hard to see exactly what’s going on because the colors blend together .. Its a little confusing when you are putting the baby in to see the exact steps of doing so.. great idea on this project ..

Kay,
Thanks for the tip – just a black cotton t-shirt. I used 3 different ones, so they could be blends, too.
Thanks again for the tip and kind words!

Brilliant! I watch my granddaughter during the day, too. And…am making one, while she naps today!

Dana,
We loved it – I still have it in my closet for the next one. We used it for months on end.
Enjoy!
