DIY Shower Jellies OR How To Make Your Own Homemade Body Wash
My daughter is very creative. I can read or watch someone do a DIY or crafty thing and still not be able to wrap my head around it. I have no idea how my DD became so crafty!
She loves to be crafty at my house… I think I have more room since all 4 kids moved out. Recently she came over with supplies in hand and spent an afternoon DIY’ing and making homemade products in my kitchen… hmmm… maybe it’s more about making a mess at MY house – I’ll have to think about that one. Anyway, I took pics so I could share them with you.
You could even use this great recipe as hand soap. This is a good way to save on your health and beauty products purchases, too! You can make your own homemade body wash/DIY shower gel and save on expenses. It will fit right into your budget! Click here to get your free printable Monthly Budget Worksheet.

Here are some simple ingredients and supplies you’ll need – everything can be purchased at your grocery store or even at your local Dollar Tree or your local drug stores.
3/4 cup boiling water
1/4 tsp Salt
1 envelope Gelatin
1/4 cup Moisturizing Cream Body Wash (or unscented Dove natural moisturizer body wash)
1/4 cup Your favorite Scented Shower Gel
In your mixing bowl add 3/4 cups boiling water (we used a tea kettle) and 1 envelope of Gelatin, stir constantly until completely dissolved.
Mix in 1/4 cup moisturizing creamy body wash (or unscented Dove body wash) to your homemade soap recipe
and 1/4 cup of Your favorite Scented Shower Gel to your new homemade skin care products.
Begin adding food coloring
Add just a little at a time until you get the desired color
Mix your creamy homemade body wash thoroughly.
Add 1/4 tsp salt and mix thoroughly.
Add to molds, if there are bubbles you can use a spray bottle of 1/2 water and 1/2 alcohol. Just a squirt or two will pop the bubbles.
Once you have filled up your molds, just pop them in the fridge for an hour or so, and then they are ready!
You can use them for washing your hands or in the shower as your own natural body wash (if you use all natural ingredients). If you live in a warmer climate like Texas, I would keep them in plastic containers in the fridge – they can melt on a hot day.
Of course, if that happens you can just pop them back in the fridge for a bit and they’ll be as good as new!
If you want, you can use unscented shower gel for a more natural body wash recipe and instead use your favorite essential oils such as a few drops of lavender oil, tea tree oil, and sweet orange essential oil blend
