Kroger Trip – Saved 99.99%!

in Shopping Brags on 05/11/10

Oh, how I missed shopping when I was recovering from my surgery!  Still doing physical therapy, but, I am able to get out more now!

So, today my goal was the Dollar General Gillette Body Wash deal and the Old Spice Kroger Deal!

I went to 2 different Dollar General’s and they didn’t carry the Gillette Body Wash, so on to Kroger.

At Kroger, I must admit I was a bit rust, I accounted for the $4 off 4 P&G products promo, but, only for 1 set of 4.  So, when I checked out with my 12 Body Washes, 6 Deodorants and 6 Body Sprays, I watched as the register total went down and down and then negative and more negative – oops!  I was $16.00 in the hole!!  I grabbed the youngest and said “Go grab 2 pizzas – Quick!”  I hate to hold up the line!  So, he got 2 $8 pizzas!  Holy Cow!  I don’t eat $8 pizzas!

So, after it was all said and done I returned the pizzas, which totally messed with the customer service attendant’s head!  She said did you pay for these?  I had to explain the whole thing because she couldn’t find where I had paid $16 for those pizzas!  She reluctantly gave me the cash, I told her she could just put it on a Kroger Gift Card because I was just going to spend it right then…  Oh, well.

Kroger Shop

So, as I mentioned above, I got:

12 Old Spice Body Washes

6 Old Spice Deodorants

6 Old Spice Body Sprays

2 Totino’s Pizzas

1 3 lb bag of Yellow Onions

1 Bunch of Green Onions

1 lb Tomatoes

3 packages of steak

1 Twix Bar not shown – the youngest’s reward for the pizza run!

The total of all was:  $107.35

After coupons, sale, and P&G Promo:  $.17

I LOVE shopping like this!!

Thats great that you got all that you did for only .17!! I admire that..however..for 107.35 I get everything I need for my household that lasts up to 2 weeks… For that price…all you ended up with was 95% Old Spice Items…and as far as the Tontinos Pizzas…Im not sure where you live…but where I live and other places Ive been too…Totinos are not even close to 8 bucks…not even 4 bucks… I love your site and the info you provide…dont get me wrong… Just that if I could get 107.35 worth of groceries from Kroger for .17 I would want it to be more useful items for my household than us all smelling like Old Men..lol… Just my .02… 🙂

@Chrissi: I originally picked up 2 DiGiorno pizzas and returned them for the Totino’s Pizzas. I have 4 boys/Men to make “Smell Good”. This was a stockpiling trip for Old Spice. I got the few groceries I got with the money I got back for purchasing the Old Spice. My intent was to get Old Spice to last us for months! Which I did! I will not have to purchase it again for quite some time. Plus, Old Spice has come out with many new fragrances, my sons love it, and they would be unhappy to hear you say they smell like old men! lol 🙂
I shop for useful items, too, just not today! 🙂
      Thanks!

Hi there, Great job!!!! Just wondering what coupons you did use? I have 4 o f the Buy any 1 old Spice body Wash or Fresh Collection and get 1 old spice body wash free. I also have 2 buy any 1 old spice fresh collection Invisible Solid get 1 free and 2 of the buy any 2 old spice body wash or red zone anti perspirant/deodorant and get 1 old spice body spray free. Does the $4.00 by buying 4 P&G products come off double or triple depending on how many you get? Say you got 8 P&G items would it take off $8.00? I did load the $3.00 ecoupons onto my card as well. Just trying to get it all down before I make an attempt at the store. Thanks!!!!

ok, I am getting all crazy trying to figure this out. I will be getting 8 body washes total with 4 free from coupons, 6 Deodorants with 1 being free with coupon and 2 body sprays which will be free with the coupons. So would $16.00 be taken off from the P&G promo? and then you take off another $7.00 right for the free body sprays? and then $3.60 for the free deodorant? and the two e-coupons $3.00 each? and then $14.00 for the 4 free body washes. I think I come up with $9.50 due. Did I do something wrong. I am bad at this lol!!!!

The deodorants are B1G1 so why would only 1 be FREE?

Are they buy get1 free as store promotion or from coupon? I didn’t look at the coupons correctly. I would be getting 3 deodorants free based on the coupons I have.

@Dorothy: At the store they are 2/$7, so with 4 BW you get 8 BW, with 4 Deo you get 4 Deo and with every 2 BW you get 1 Spray. Then the $1/2 and the P&G promo for every 4.
It can be confusing, I just made sure I had the right number of product to coupon ration and then counted my P&G products and knew that for every 4 I bought I would get $4 off.

So, if a Q says B1G1, it’s worth 2 of whatever you’re gonna buy and so on.
Does that help? Did you print off my Coupon Shopping List? It might help: https://www.groceryshopforfree.com/resources/

Ok think I got it. Not using the coupons where you get the free body spray when buying 2 BW or Deod. Got it down to $1.00 for getting 8 BW and 4 Deod. $12.00 off with P&G Promo and 2 of the $3.00 ecoupons, using 2 of the $1.00/2 and subtracting $21.00 of free products. Hoping it will all work smoothly in checkout. LOL . Thanks again Dian for your patience.

Thanks for the kind words and YES, most definitely! ALL ecoupons anywhere only deduct once and they don’t double or triple EVER.
Good luck and let us know how you did!!
