So, just when you think you have this couponing thing down…
Well, in September, Walgreens will be rolling out a new rewards program.
They will introduce a rewards card – like all the other stores, to track your purchases.
The new program is called Balance Rewards & it starts September 16th, 2012.
If you are on their email list, you will get an email on September 2nd and will see it announced in the September 9th sales flyer.
You can enroll in the program in-store, online, or through their mobile app. You will then be able to manage your account online or through the mobile app.
Once the program begins, September 16th, 2012, you will have a 2 week grace period in which you will be able to receive the sale prices without the card.
It will be a points based program. It is not based on how much you spend, or on the coupons you do or do not use, but, on the offer and the points attached to the offer.
You will be able to use your points in-store or online.
You will see monthly as well as weekly bonus point offers.
Prescriptions (excluding NY & NJ) will earn 500 points for a 30 day supply and 1500 for a 90 day supply.
5,000 bonus points will = $5 which can be used to pay for purchases at the time of checkout. If you choose to use your eligible rewards – they will be deducted at the register.
Much like Register Reward, you won’t be able to get bonus points on an item if you pay for that item with points received for buying the same item prior.
You receive 500 bonus points for buying a Snicker Bar, you cannot buy another Snicker bar with THAT 500 AND get another 500. You can buy the Snicker bar with the 500 you received from the first one, but, you won’t get 500 for the second one.
Bonus points cannot be used to purchase:
- gift cards
- prescription co-pays
- prepaid cards
Your bonus points will expire after 36 months after you earn them or after 6 months of no activity.
Members will get exclusive savings.
You can also earn bonus points for activities like Walk with Walgreens, and immunizations.
You can contact Walgreens Balance Reward at 1-855-225-9225 , if you have any more questions.
So far, they are keeping the Register Reward program, but, I suspect that will go away as well…
What do you think? Have you heard anything else?
